MHA Week 2021 - Nature

The Power of Nature

"Imagine for a moment that you sit in a beautiful place in Nature. You close your eyes, you breathe. You allow your thoughts to flow through your mind without engaging in them, just watching them like clouds across a blue sky, until eventually your senses become more acute, the smells, the sounds ... and you focus on them, allowing them to expand, you begin to feel part of them, at one with them…at one with Nature, at one within your own nature, at one with the true vibration of life.

From this place ... everything is possible"

The three questions that we may ask ourselves at this time are:

  • When was it that Humankind forgot that we are part of Nature and it is part of us?

  • When was it that our greed and desire for more or our fear of not having enough led us to destroy the very habitat that sustains us?

  • When will it be that we care again for our Nature and in so doing care again for ourselves and each other?

The time of course is now.

It is time for the common interest to take the place of self interest.

We have been given this opportunity to change, to count our blessings, to reconnect with Nature and in so doing find again the soul within ourselves and each other. This is the Power of Nature, it is the place where we find ourselves again in our true capacity to be guardians of the planet and each other.

"Resilience is a natural state of harmony that derives from a sense of integrated & sustainable well-being, a sense of belonging, a sense of purpose & potential. Once this is experienced individuals and organisations move from surviving to thriving. Corporate Soul Resilience Coaching makes this a reality and provides techniques for sustainability in times of great change."

  • Never before has the need to look after our People been so acute.

  • Dynamic Wellness within an Organisation comes from a profound and real commitment to the ability of its people to transcend stress.

  • The feeling of Purpose is the key essence in moving from surviving to thriving.

At a time when so many are sacrificing so much and needing to withstand so much, we wanted to provide hope, tangible and sustainable well-being, as well as the ability to harmonise the spiral of profound change taking place within the individual, the organisation and the world at large.

When we are able to transcend stress and release our fears, we begin to tap into our innate state of wholeness. From here we are able to envision a future based on positive values, inspiring visions and a harmony with each other and with Nature.

A new world is emerging and Resilience Coaching will allow organisations and their people to embrace that future in a positive, sustainable and visionary way.

One Word for 2021 : Compassion - the Antithesis of the Virus

January 13, 2021 Karen Fletcher
IMG_7780.jpg

Compassion is that which has the power to transform suffering.

When we look back at these times in 10 years, what will we remember?

It is unlikely to be the minor controls of what time those untouched by the illness itself went to bed or got up in the morning or whether they exercised every day or not. What will define our memory, will be the acts of compassion and fellowship that moved us. If we have regrets they may well be the times we chose to think only of ourselves and our struggles rather than to think and reach out to others, the times we could have chosen peace over complaints and anger or the times we could have sacrificed our own needs in the name of those who were suffering the most. Perhaps we will remember the moments of stillness in nature and wish we had spent more time just being and listening rather than looking towards our apps to count our steps or to provide sounds other than the beauty, the stillness or the sounds of nature itself to counter the negativity of our own thoughts and fears that rose in the silence.

Many share wonderful tips and ways to cope with Lockdown and the Virus, for us it is encompassed in that one word : Compassion.

If we all could :

  • Take Personal Responsibility for our own Thoughts, Words & Actions.

  • Meditate or Be in Nature and allow ourselves to connect to beauty, stillness, harmony.

  • Every day choose a selfless act of compassion for someone else.

We would see a wave of Compassion move through the world that would alleviate the impact of the virus and bring wide - ranging positive change in our own lives, organisations, communities and the world.

It is that simple, and it starts with ourselves.

First it is important to build our own harmony and natural resilience to overcome the challenges that we all face and to empower ourselves with threefold well-being: Body, Mind & Soul to step across the bridge into a more enlightened and enlightening way of life.

Natural Resilience 2021 & Beyond

January 13, 2021 Karen Fletcher
IMG_6959 (3).jpg
  •   Never before has the Natural Resilience of ourselves and our planet been so critical.

  • Resilience is a natural state of harmony that derives from a sense of integrated & sustainable well-being, a sense of belonging, a sense of purpose & potential. Once this is experienced individuals and organisations move from surviving to thriving.

  • Corporate Soul Resilience Coaching & Transcending Stress Well-Being Programmes make this a reality and provide techniques for sustainability in times of great change.

When you think of Nature, you may think of a tree that bends and moves within the wind, only losing leaves at that time of the season that is right for it and only breaking its boughs in the most forceful of storms.

This is Resilience in its natural form. However, the natural world is not subject to fear, and fear is that which causes the human search for resilience to be at best difficult to attain with any permanence and at worst, flawed, as it simply reinforces the stress that it is meant to counteract.

The true path is to restore a natural state of acceptance, innate knowledge and flow, that allows for a constant state of change. This is the natural way, rather than the shoring up of the defences in a constant state of readiness for the next prevailing difficulty to present itself, which, of course it inevitably does, as fear breeds more fear, just as harmony builds an ever greater harmony.

We believe the way forward is to move beyond the fear and destructive aspects of stress to create Individuals, Leaders, Teams & Organisations that are able to embrace challenge and change with open arms, in the full knowledge that they are strong enough within themselves and together, to harmonise anything that may move across their boughs.

The Natural Resilience is a buoyancy, an acceptance, an ability to understand that change is part of the natural order of the cycle of life and not to fear it. It is an ability to be part of the flow of that change and yet to be constant within it. The key lies in finding stillness within the movement, that natural point of potential at the heart of all things.

Corporate Soul takes you beyond the mainstream experience of Resilience and into an experience of a natural state of Harmony. In this way energy spent on building & maintaining a state of Resilience is released into creativity, productivity and an ability to thrive and succeed.

The Global Corona Virus Pandemic has taken hold in a World that is experiencing an eclipse of Fear and unprecedented Stress. The loss of more traditional channels of belief have also left many fearful of the unknown. The great organisations of the future will be those that recognise this and will offer their people an essence that is meaningful, something positive to believe in, a sense of belonging, of uniting in a common & worthwhile purpose and a thread to hold onto as humanity moves further into that unknown.

Our Programmes will begin by transforming that energy of fear into an energy of harmony, transcending stress and linking the individual/team/organisation to an inner resource from where life can be experienced as a constantly unfolding spiral of change. This will enable them to move and flow with that spiral rather than seeking to stop the change for fear of where it may lead. This in turn, empowers the individual/team/organisation with the ability to visualise the change, to move with it positively, rather than resist.

So much of life’s vitality and potential for well-being is lost as people either try to stop the spiral, slow it down or indeed seek, through other methods, to speed themselves up to keep pace with it. All of this results from fear and fear based Resilience training does not alleviate stress it simply adds to it, creating a belief that life is naturally adverse rather than a belief that life can be a positive, purposeful and inspiring experience. This comes when we can embrace change, see challenges as part of our learning & growth thus rising out of suffering and into compassion. Here we can live our lives free from unnecessary fear, finding a harmony that in itself, naturally, not only transforms stress but prevents the experience of it in the first place.

“There is a point where movement meets stillness and peace meets action, at this point everything is possible”

Organisational Healing

Organisational Healing

Autumn 2019

As we head at an ever-increasing pace towards 2020, we are witness all around us to a state of life that is breaking down.

Whether it be the stifling of life within our oceans, the constant threat of catastrophic war or the unrelenting pressure of our constantly ‘Switched On’ culture, we are having to work ever harder to experience the beauty and happiness that we know is possible but is ever more elusive.

Through our own searching, we have come to realise that happiness cannot be found in material possessions, at the bottom of a glass or in ever more thrilling ways of recreating the adrenaline rush that is the closest we come to joy.

Our young people have retreated into a virtual reality and our adult population either consumes more, runs faster, knows better, or has simply surrendered to the drudgery of a seemingly purposeless existence or the fear of a life spent saving for retirement or keeping the wolves away from the door.

Whichever way, the law of greed is winning out over the wisdom of giving to receive and both young and older resort to social media echo chambers to create some sense of self-worth only to find that they are at best vacuous and fragile and that true friendship relies on values that run far deeper and have to be truly earned.

The sound of silence is a distant, and for many, frightening memory as stress continues to grow and to have devastating and wide-ranging effects …

Is this all that there is and ever can be?

No it is not.

These so called sweeping generalisations may be true but there is another side to the story …

There are also many, young and older, who have found a way that allows a path of fulfilment to unfold and in the main they have transcended the Law of Greed and found that compassion is awakened in the service of others.

Never before has the need for change been so starkly present and with the large-scale rejection of religious ideologies in some parts of society, a new form of faith is rising. This turning of the tide away from religion as it was has been a necessary movement within the spiral of change, as the evolution of consciousness begins to outgrow an outmoded view of a punishing God made in Man’s image and seeks to find a greater truth. But that truth comes with responsibility and as greater numbers begin to discover, including those enlightened scientists & religious leaders, that the true God is a pure harmonious energy residing at the heart of all things including ourselves, it is also beginning to dawn on us that the devastation and destruction around us is of our own doing …and could therefore also be of our undoing if we could harness the power of our own positive, harmonious & compassionate thought.

And what of the atheist? They also have belief which is a non-belief in a religious God, which, as has been stated, is an understandable and perhaps necessary evolution of consciousness, but an atheist who does not believe in energy, in love or in the importance of compassion, is much harder to find.

The turning away from religion has also had another effect. As humanity has noted the paradox of a punishing God and a loving God, words like Love, Prayer and Healing have also been rejected. As the Churches, Mosques and Synagogues have become less significant as the centre of communities and the family structure has begun to break down, we have become more individualistic, valuing independence and believing in the survival of the fittest, coming together to compete rather than to commune and to seek support from each other.

Recent times have taught us the power of unity in the name of love: the outpouring of compassion that moved like a wave through the world when Diana died, the call to prayer in Manchester more recently, for example, but the lesson seems to be momentary, we seem to soon to let go of the power of that Love rather than holding on to it and building on it.

Compassion which is Healing is vital to our future

This is but a moment in time: in 2020 we may discover again that it is our world to look after or to destroy, to understand that there is no planet B. To find again that Love does live at the heart of all things and that “God” is but the living energy of Love, of Compassion within us. What is for certain is that we are hurtling rapidly towards a crisis, change must come, how we experience that change will depend on our own attitudes, values and principles, but it will be a time when those that can will be called on to be an example of a different way, a way of Love.

The Power of Love

November 27, 2020 Karen Fletcher

Winter 2020 - 2021

Touch is one of the most fundamental needs of a human being. Babies deprived of Touch at an early stage never thrive. In this unprecedented year in the history of humanity we have been forced to separate, to distance, to be apart from each other and the only way of bringing true meaning to that is if we come together again in a different way, a way that reminds us that we are part of each other, a way that understands that every Touch whether it be physical, mental or at a distance can be one of Love. The Power of Love goes beyond the physical human emotion of love; it is the basic essence of life within our universe, it is the power within creation and the power that will allow us to begin again.

As Individuals in homes, places of learning & worship and of course in the workplace, experience isolation and uncertainty and a crisis of fear remains as powerful as the virus itself we must bring change. We must not go back to the ways of old until the next virus, war or disaster rips through our human community again. We must create a new world, find a new way and we can begin quite simply by choosing to come together again through compassion, to build our families, communities, organisations on that Principle so that the many can thrive rather than few. It is compassion that overcomes fear for as long as we think only of ourselves we will experience fear and in that fear evil seeds itself and grows.

On an individual as well as an organisational level, now is the time to decide:

What will be your contribution to that new world that will begin to emerge in 2021?

As 2020 draws towards 2021 and the Spiral of Change seeks to move humanity into a better future, it is perhaps time to reflect on what has taken place, the lessons learnt and that which we wish to be our contribution to a better future.

Those who have the courage to stand in the light of their own truth will not seek to go back to the old ways of personal power and destruction but to build a new world, one based on the foundation stones of compassion, collaboration and community, where each takes responsibility for their own thoughts and actions as well as for their consequences. Where finally we remember that we belong to each other and the world we build is not one of individual castles built on sand but of interlinking communities thriving, sharing and taking care of the planet and each other.

Let this Winter be one of reflection and healing, of embracing the beauty of change, and the opportunity it gives us all to begin again, moving forward into a new future not a repetition of the past. May the lesson of unity, bring us all together again in the knowledge that the light is always more powerful than the darkness.

Without healing, a vaccine does nothing but mask the underlying disease that created the virus in the first place. It is time not to just shore up the defences against this and further illness but to deal with the root cause itself, and that lies in the thoughts of selfishness and greed, the absence of love which has reached a pinnacle again in the evolution of humanity.

Now that 2020 draws to a close, it is clear that it is time to create a new way for ourselves, our organisations, our communities and our world.

We invite you to unite with us in being part of that new way and that begins with healing, a return to wholeness, with coming together again within the Principle of Compassion.

Sleep Wisdom

July 22, 2020 Karen Fletcher
IMG_2892l.jpg

There is a key correlation between Relaxation and Sleep. Many of the difficulties of day to day living are due to a breakdown in both of these vital aspects of holistic Well Being.

Through re-learning the true Art of Relaxation, healing occurs within the parasympathetic system and balance is restored to the “Constantly-On” culture of the now. Once the balance is restored then the building blocks of life, of which sleep is one, can begin to be restored.

Finding a rhythm in life that allows for proactive Deep Relaxation is a key part of re-creating physical, mental and emotional wellness.

The human system is built on balance. Sleep is the time of switching off from the conscious space. It is a vital time of inaction to balance the action, of darkness to balance the light. Without good sleep the fundamental components of life simply begin to breakdown. The Soul, which is the energy of life, becomes depleted as it is unable to replenish itself and the individual begins to struggle with finding and sustaining any form of harmony within the aspects of day to day living.

Poor sleep is the first sign that mental health is beginning to be compromised and much suffering could be averted if focus is given to Relaxation at that stage of the fragmentation.

The first step to regaining good sleep is learning again how to let go of action and control, how to embrace silence and stillness and to accept that the rhythm of the life needs to fundamentally change.

Much of the trigger for poor sleep is the ever-increasing need to be active at all times, the fear of being inactive, over-stimulation and a moving away from the natural rhythms of nature. This, combined with heightened levels of destructive stress, is the cause of most illness, much of the distress, conflict and unhappiness that is prevalent within the world today.

It is time for a new approach a return to the basics of a healthy life and Corporate Soul Deep Relaxation Therapy can enable you to make that first step towards the life you so desire to live.

True Relaxation is about letting go and letting be. It is the antidote to stress and to the breakdown of sleep and mental health. Many modern forms of so-called relaxation are just further forms of stimulation, especially in this time of technology and device attachment.

How many sleep without waking for a minimum of 6 hours a night 6 nights a week? The NHS state that most adults need 9 hours good sleep per night. Clinical trials have shown that 6 hours sleep lowers the metabolic rate by 10%. Just 40 minutes of Deep Relaxation lowers it by nearly 40% and also regulates blood pressure, balances hormones, brings clarity of thought and feelings of satisfaction, optimism, peace and well-being. The evidence is unequivocal. To regain equilibrium in the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of life a different way is needed for the future and this is the first step. Deep Relaxation Therapy is a preventative solution but can also be used as a treatment. Simply by committing to yourself that of you have not slept well you will allow time in the day for a Deep Relaxation takes the pressure off and begins to breaks the cycle.

Nature is also a wonderful gift, with the power to restore equilibrium. In the time of lockdown when the destructive element of human action was paused, the recovery of nature was remarkable. You too have that power of regeneration within, when you pause and enter into stillness, turn that which is negative in to that which is positive. Nature is not just a place to be active in, it is a place to meditate in, to be still in, to observe and to allow the mind to enter into a harmony which brings immediate healing.

As 2020 continues to bring in dramatic change, a new time of potential for compassion and healing, may it also bring to you this opportunity to change your life and the life of others for the better.

 Thank you

Corporate Soul Consulting.

Kindness in Action

May 11, 2020 Karen Fletcher
daniel-norin-NkvGPrUg7aM-unsplash.jpg

“Kindness in Action is the fundamental learning of this time. It is that which fills the spaces in between us, unites us, moves us to tears, heals us. In the end it will be the acts of love and kindness which will overcome and the reunion will be all the more meaningful, soulful, joyful and sustainable because of it”

What is the R of Kindness?

When this is over, will we ever forget the first clap and the image of the NHS worker leaving home to a whole community of support, the doctors and nurses brought to their knees, the hands placed at windows of the care homes, those isolated, depressed and anxious, lonely … frightened, those that died alone and those that grieved alone? … Let us hope we forget the empty shelves, the scams and the selfishness, as part of a past that is now truly behind us … And then there are rainbows, once a symbol of hope now also a symbol of compassion, love, unity. And our Nature - how grateful we have become for that, simple things, so little we truly need. These are indeed extraordinary times, times that will change us forever. Let us never forget that it was the Kindness that got us through. Let us remember that it is Kindness that will get us through.

Kindness is intrinsic to not only the experience of life on Earth but to the experience of being human. Without Kindness there is an absence of that which defines life, defines love and defines meaning within existence. Without this vital aspect of Love, the very fabric of our being begins to break down.

The absence of Kindness has consequence, it has its effect in all of that which the World is facing at this time. And through the eons of time of life on Earth, those moments when the desire for power has overthrown basic human rights, destruction has always ensued, as it has now, as that need for power, the need for more has reached a pinnacle again. In the void left by the absence of Kindness, viruses take root, in those places where respect for human life has been lost, cast aside in favour of control, dominance, self interest, in the places where personal needs and desires have been placed over the needs of others, the sanctity of our planet, of our bodies and our minds. Where taking and having is valued over giving and sharing, where the desire to compete and to win has caused a laying aside of the basic human action of Love, the loyalty and commitment to fellow human beings, the compassion for suffering. The denial that every word, thought and action we take has consequence has brought the World to its knees.

Where Kindness is absent there is no Love and Love is the harmony, the basis of all life, it is the energy of life that flows through all things. Where there is no Love there can be no healing and so it makes sense that the only true cure for this suffering will come through the return to the basic instinct of Kindness, that which evokes that intangible feel good factor that brings life and flow and exponential energy to all things.

Kindness starts with the self, then moves beyond to loved ones and family, to unite communities and nations. It is that which enables all individuals to transcend the ordinary and create the extraordinary. It is the action that gives way to Compassion, the outpouring of Love that transforms suffering and moves a million mountains of pain.

The wisdom is in recognising this link between Compassion and Suffering, seeing that selfishness and greed are a product of fear and to bring again into the World the Love for Life in all its forms that will transcend all disease and destruction.

The changes facing humanity now are momentous. It is a time to move forward into a better way of life, a way where the seeds of Kindness are sown again within the deserts of fear, need, speed, greed and cruelty. A World where the thirst for power is quenched with compassion and a way where the World grows and blossoms and will never again choose to go back to those deserts of suffering where excess reigned and respect for self and others was cast aside. A World where the sun will never again be eclipsed by evil.

Every small act of Kindness takes us there, takes us to that new future, a future where we will remember again that we belong to each other.

Those who truly understand the Power of Compassion will be those that envision this World of greater enlightenment and peace. A world where everyone plays their part, where there is a balanced distribution of resources, where there is Love and care for the planet and all within it. Where we seek to collaborate rather than control, where we seek to unite rather than dominate, where we will be grateful for what we have rather than constantly striving for more.

Imagine a World where success is measured by Kindness…

In your homes, communities and organisations it is Compassionate Leadership that will bring the World into recovery, bring about the healing that will be needed at all levels of society and together we will rebuild it, brick for brick with Kindness, with Unity and in Peace.

Thank you

Corporate Soul Virtual Events

May 11, 2020 Karen Fletcher
IMG_0065 (1).jpg

At the end of April, Tara hosted a virtual event for Women in Banking and Finance for 58 people . With so many finance people working from home and trying to juggle work with homeschooling, the topic of the webinar was Resilience and Relaxation.

The session explored how it is really important that we carve out time  to renew our energy levels and to reduce stress. If we try to keep operating in survival mode we will eventually burnout and are make ourselves physically or mentally ill. Taking time to really relax and release the tension we are holding in our bodies helps us renew our selves ready to perform again.

To truly understand the benefit of relaxation and help attendees recognise how they were feeling, Tara used an assessment measure and at the start of the webinar 42% felt either calm or positive. The session then began with then breathing practices that can used in the moment to relieve feelings of anxiety or worry. Followed then by an instant relaxation practice and also a short guided visualisation. Attendees were then split into small groups to allow them to discuss how they were feeling after the practices. Lots of people were amazed how using these practices made them feel instantly better. When the measure was rerun at the end of the session the number of people feeling calm or positive had risen to 89%.

We will be running more Webinars over the the next few months as a way to experience our work, until we can be back in person running workshops and retreats for you.
